Huck Embroidered Tea Towel
This is a wonderful Huck pattern I found on youtube. The woman shows step by step how to do the embroidery and has close to 200 patterns. Here is a link to her youtube page https://www.youtube.com/@linhasdeamor I am making a series of tea towels for my MIL. Luckily I had some huck fabric stashed away because I can't get it around here anymore. Huck embroidery is created on the surface of huck fabric using woven in floats. So it is really a weaving technique, but is still considered embroidery. The tricky bit is that many rows start in the middle of the fabric. You work one direction and then turn the towel upside down and work the rest of the row. It is hard to do with dyslexia! The designer uses purchased towels with crosstiched inserts for her videos. If you look at crossstitch fabric there is a float on the surface so you can try this out without buyinghuck fabric.
Thank you for reading this and I hope some of you will try this almost forgotten embroidery technique.
